1) Segment- No one likes to feel like they’ve been lumped into a broad, vague category. Target emails and messages specifically for college students so they feel that the attention is geared all towards them.
2) Keep it simple; hire young people– It can sometimes be hard to translate a message into one that is concise enough to inform the texting and Snapchat generation. Students today are used to short messages. If you find it challenging to condense, hire someone in college or right out of college as your translator.
3) Provide incentives– Expecting students to do anything without incentives is asking for too much. Incentives don’t have to be huge. From free pizza to t-shirts, what is important is letting them know you aren’t only interested in people buying your product right away.
4) Use Target Marketing- At OnCampus Advertising we know where the message is displayed is just as important as the message itself. We use IP targeting to target smartphones that fall within a virtual geofence or Facebook newsfeeds of students registered on a school’s WIFI network.
By keeping the aforementioned tips in mind, you can be sure to attract more college students than before.
