Quality over quantity. Young trend influencers (called millennial influencers) are more skeptical than previous generations and are wary of the messages brands send out to their consumers. Businesses should invest in providing a higher quality experience for their consumers, and share it with influential people. Heineken recently shared their brand experience with the largely successful Departure Roulette campaign. The brand dared travelers to drop their flights and change their location to a different one with the press of a button. Although this campaign focused on flyers, it influenced a few to talk with many about the brand.
Immerse deeper. The technological trend of virtual reality is becoming a reality for many now and in the future. The technology will introduce new physical sensations to build one of a kind brand experiences for consumers. Additionally, there are other ways to more fully immerse your consumers in your product by letting them in on the behind the scenes or hosting live events with your product.
Be socially responsible. It is not a new concept that brands should be socially aware of their environment and society. Millennials particularly are more informed on social issues, and brands need to be conscious and sensitive to certain local and environmental issues when marketing a product.
Keep it 100% real. Millennials want to connect and form relationships with businesses. It is important to keep in mind how your brand and product complements a certain lifestyle, habits, passions or interests. Engage them through storytelling that really shows your brand’s personality, and reach out to them to let them know you desire their feedback.
Millennials value experiences over physical products, and want products from brands through the use of smart and creative technology that appreciate their insights.
