Create a Lasting First Impression with Email Marketing

Businesses are constantly facing the challenge of obtaining new customers and engaging them into the workings of their brand. There are many marketing channels businesses can use to get their message out to their target audience. Email marketing is a strong channel for marketers to connect and engage with potential and existing customers. Campaigner recently conducted a study to show how email marketers can implement a lasting first-impression email marketing strategy. Here is what they found:

Start off with a warm welcome.

According to the survey, 60% of marketers feel they aren’t making the most of their welcome emails to new subscribers. Your first interaction with your email subscribers usually sets the tone and determines the kind of relationship you want to build. Be sure to set a clear and defined tone and voice for your emails. For example – are you looking to be more entertaining or more informative? Your welcome email should include the kind of messages and offers you will send, and how often you will be sending them. Start off a two-way conversation by asking them for their feedback about how and how often they want to hear from you.

Always remember to say thank you

Only 40% of marketers say that their first email to new subscribers includes a thank you note. Treat your email subscribers as people you have just met, and show your appreciation with a simple thank you note. These two words will go a long way, and you’ll be off to a great start with your new customers.

Get engaged

Over half of marketers surveyed reported that less than 20% of their new subscribers engage with their first email message. Encourage interaction by including a poll to find out your customers’ subscription preferences. Not only will you be able to receive an answer from them right away, but you will also obtain enough information to assist in creating content for future emails.

Find the perfect time

35% of marketers said morning and 25% said midday were the best times to send their emails in order to receive the most responses from new subscribers. Send emails before 2 pm to optimize readership and response rate. For the highest percentage of interaction, send emails during breakfast times between 8 am and 11 am.
