How to Make Consumers Fall in Love with Your Products

When it comes to marketing a product, many differentiators can help your product stand out among others. When designing a product, keep in mind these specific categories that can help your brand gain loyal customers that want to build a long-term relationship with you.

Category 1: Create and sustain quality.

  • Design – Is your product visually appealing? Is the hardware, packaging and prints unique or eye catching?
  • Emphasize experience – Make your product easy to use and share with others. It should be essential to making and keeping the memories and moments of your consumers’ lives.
  • Make it multi-purpose – But without too many purposes, and revolve it around an activity.
  • Keep it affordable. Consumers, especially college students, are more likely to try new brands and products if the purchase will not break the bank.
  • Customize. Whether it be through offering different colors or styles, make your product customizable to your target market’s different personalities. Catering your product to a certain lifestyle, such as an athletic or healthy lifestyle will also assist in attracting subsets of your target market.
  • Create with quality in mind. Understand how much quality you are putting into your product in order to make it a must-have, regardless of the price tag. Consumers would rather spend cash on something that will last them a while, as opposed to a smaller amount for something that is bound to break within a year.

Category 2: Ensure an enjoyable experience buying your product.

  • Make buying across any channel a seamless experience. Consumers should be able to purchase your product conveniently across mobile, web and/or in stores.
  • Offer customer service that attest to questions as soon as possible. Turn their negative experiences into positive by providing them with ways to improve your product and listen to their feedback.

Category 3: Keep your consumers coming back for more.

  • Be compatible with other products. This is important, especially in the technology sector, where it is essential to be compatible with other devices such as smartphones and laptops.
  • Offer rewards. Starting a loyalty program is a great way to ensure your customers will keep purchasing from your brand. Offer surprises like free birthday gifts, free samples with purchases, or discounts and coupons.

Category 4: Build a brand worth following.

  • Advertise with transparency. Give consumers a behind the scenes look on how your product is made, and where you source your materials or ingredients.
  • Communicate on social media. Use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat to engage your customers on channels they use often in their day-to-day lives.
  • Give back to the community. Emphasize humane practices and treat your employees with respect and fair policies. If possible, introduce a philanthropic component to your brand to show your brand is dedicated to giving back to consumers, employees and society in general.
