Marketers Will Focus on Mobile More Than Ever Before in 2014

The term “mobile” has made a pretty significant dent in the marketing world over the past couple of years. Even though in previous years we have seen mobile making its way to the top, 2014 has been the start of something new.  Every internationally oriented education institution has placed “mobile” on its top priority list. It does not come to any surprise that almost half of internet consumers across the world are using mobile devices as their primary mechanism for web surfing when we have smart phones that can do everything for us on the go.  This tsunami of mobile trends is also causing a stir in the app world.  In 2013 alone, mobile apps generated $26 billion dollars of revenue resulting in a 70% increase over 2012.   According to Ericsson, mobile subscriptions are speculated to sky rocket to 9.3 billion by the year 2019.

Concerning advertising, maintaining a mobile image and established website is vital for a business to keep their head above water.  According to the research firm Latitude, 61% of people have a better opinion of brands when they provide a good mobile experience for consumers.  Mobile marketing applies to an array of people; however, the education market specifically is an ideal target.  College students have grown up in the age of technology and it does not seem like they are going to veer away from it any time soon.  Mobile marketing for college age students is making a big dent.

The key for successful mobile marketing is to “Make it easy, and make it fast.” Consumers expect their mobile screens to present them with quick and easy ways to find information that they need right away along with prominent and easy to complete calls to action.  This being said, research has proven that consumers respond more promptly and dramatically to mobile marketing than to any other forms of promotion.  Mobile coupons receive ten times the redemption rate than traditional coupons and 70% of all mobile searches result in action within one hour.

Mobile Marketing is really taking the industry by storm.  It has opened up so many new windows, especially when it comes to Millennials.  With their aptitude for technology and need for instant satisfaction, mobile marketing is the perfect tool to grab college kids’ attentions.  In order for producers and advertisers to keep up with the Joneses, they will have to hop on to the mobile train if they have not already done so.  Twenty fourteen has already been a monumental year for mobile marketing, image what is to come in future years.
