Here is the breakdown of when the respondents last read their college newspaper:
64% have read their college newspaper in the past two weeks, with only 10% saying they never read an issue. Therefore, this demonstrates that college students today are still invested in print newspapers.
Specifically with print editions, OCA asked respondents how many of the last five editions of their newspaper they have read. One-third (33%) said they read all of the last five issues. Students also spend a good amount of time reading the print editions of their college newspapers, as 86% spend over five minutes reading each issue. Additionally, almost 28% said they spend more than fifteen minutes on each issue. Why do students spend so much time reading their newspapers? The main reason is due to the fact that it provides a source of accurate campus news, opinion pieces on different campus topics, and information about sports, art and entertainment.
Advertisers looking to pinpoint the college student demographic should focus their efforts on marketing to students via college print newspapers. For more information on how to start up your print advertising campaign, contact us at OnCampus Advertising today.
