Using College Media to Recruit Students to a College or University

College can be a difficult and confusing time for students as they are away from home for the first time, figuring out who they are and want they want, and trying to pay for it at the same time. In fact, more than a third of all college students will transfer at some point. While these students are in the process of figuring out where to transfer, they can be accepting of advertisements from other colleges and universities and, at the very least, look up more information about a college after seeing an advertisement for them.

For this reason, hitting these college students with ads can be very effective for college and universities seeking to increase the number of transfer applications they receive. Using college media, such as print newspaper, online newspaper, out of home, mobile targeting etc, can allow college and universities to target specifically these college students and reach them at a price far less expensive than non-college media.

It isn’t just students seeking to transfer who can be open to advertisements from other colleges. Some college students will take classes at another college or university closer to home during the summer to catch up on lost time after changing a major or to get ahead in hopes of graduating sooner. Some college students will take classes at an online college or university during the school year with the same intent. And, of course, a number of graduating seniors are looking at post-graduate schools, including medical schools, law schools, and MBA programs for after graduation. All these types of students can be reached in the same cost-efficient manner through college media.
